The MT-03 Owners Club Also known as the "MT-03 Squadron" or the "MT-heads", the owners club keeps fellow MT owners in touch with each other to share hints, tips and experiences. February 2008 - Our youngest members?:
Rebecca, age 7 (left) and James, age 5 (right) go for their first flight in their Dad's MT-03 at Wickenby.
A nice shot of Norman landing at Kirkbride, and afterwards stood with Adrian (right) and his machine on the apron. By popping the headset ear-cups out you can talk to people whilst without having to remove your helmet (or have them shout) - but the price you pay is looking like a big-eared extra from Star Wars! The MT's at Kirkbride are very active, and the owners there have been using their machine's capabilities to the fullest to explore Scotland and the Lake District.
** NEW ** The new online forum for MT-owners is up and running. You need to register on the forum then email us your forum username to be granted access. Click here to access the forum and register. The forum is for UK MT-owners only, and allows them to exchange news and experiences in a private environment. Here are some of the latest goings-on in MT-land: Adrian Richards and Phil Harwood on the tarmac at Carlisle with their MTs:
Norman Surplus on the apron at Carlisle with his gorgeous 914-turbo machine:
and a few words from Steve Boxall, UK MT-03 owner #1:
Autogyro and Boeing 747 pilot Mike King gets to grips with the joy of MT-ing as he ceremonially bathes G-CDZZ after a flight at Askern. Armed only with a bucket of soapy water and an Ikea dishwashing brush Mike made short work of the cow muck which had made its home on the empennage. It's a tad wet down on the farm at the moment, and our first job of the day was to build a causeway from the hangar out to the strip to stop the gyro from getting bogged down in the quagmire. I've flown 37 hours in seedy-zed-zed in the two and a half months since taking delivery in early August - more than I used to fly in a year in my single seater.
And this is what all the best-dressed MT's are wearing this season .... Having been frightened to death by a quote for custom-made covers (£1200!!) and warned not to use a cotton sheet (it stays damp and holds water against the paintwork) I set-to with a roll of Wickes landscaping fabric and some gaffer tape. It's not pretty, but it's effective (and cheap). Anyone spot my Air Command lurking in the back of the hangar? I've got a Merlin at home too ..... how on earth did I end up with THREE gyros?
And finally, this is what the boys in South Africa get up to. The email this image was attached to just said "11500ft Champagne Castle, Drakensberg". My immediate thought was "if it had been me I would have been happier at 12,500ft"! Anyway, enjoy:
